Failing Solar Flare and Taking It Slow

Yes, I have hit another slump at blogging. Around the same time last year, I actually stopped blogging for a month or two because I just couldn’t be bothered with it! You know when you have no energy for anything but lying down and staring into nothing? Well, that’s me lately! And before you might ask, no I’m not brokenhearted. It must be the heat the getting to me and making me oh so lazy! πŸ™‚

Anyway, unlike last year though, I’m feeling a bit guilty about neglecting my blog. After all, I’ve invested so much time and effort on it previously and I have an obligation of course to those of you who support it. πŸ™‚ Hence, I decided to take it slow and easy with a simple “nails of the day” post.

Not rocket Science, thank God! Simple is a good start to rev up my very much addled brain. Again, I blame the heat!

Last January, I think, I bought loads of nail polishes because they were cheap and easy to hoard. I’ve become such a shopaholic that I feel compelled to get something when I go into a shop. Nail polishes are my saving grace because they cheer me up yet they’re not so hard on my budget. I very much like Bobbie Nails in particular.

Years ago, I wasn’t really into glitz and glitter for my nails. Just recently though, I turned into a magpie and as such, am fascinated with anything that shines! That’s why I got solar burst from Bobbie. It was gold and had colorful pieces of glitter in it. It immediately grabbed my attention.

Well, one thing I realized was this particular nail polish didn’t look particularly pretty up close. As you can see, it looks like a messy glitter job upon close inspection. Kinda reminds me of how I haphazardly applied glitter glue on my school projects when I was a kid. Well, to be honest, it’s really difficult trying to spread the glitter on evenly. Eventually you;ll end up with some parts having more glitter than others, which is exactly what happened in my case.

It doesn’t look so bad from afar though, what do you think? Maybe I’m deluding myself. You can always let me know by commenting. (Hint, hint) Seriously though, I don’t think the photos are doing this nail polish any justice. It looks much prettier in real life as it shines and shimmers while I move my hands. The gaping space between some of the glitters isn’t too obvious as well in real life. I should have recorded it on video so I have proof but alas, that didn’t cross my mind earlier while the light was still good.

Don’t worry, all is not lost in this nail polish, however. I think a base coat will quickly save the day. That’s what happened when I did Starry, Starry Nails. Currently, I’m making a note to myself to buy gold nail polish. What do you guys think?

I promise to be back tomorrow with another post. I was actually productive last weekend and did a lot of makeup looks that I can show you guys. Plus, it’s time to do my monthly favorites and the haul posts I’ve been delaying. Fingers crossed the lazy bug won’t hit me again.

Until next time, lovelies! Ta-ta!

  1. Sometimes I wish I had the patience to try out DIY nail art. I usually just cut my nails short, haha! I did buy some polish from Nature Republic in Korea… hope I find the time and inclination to try it some time. I think this particular polish would make a nice top coat though… color underneath would probably make it more impactful. πŸ™‚

  2. Don’t worry sis, I feel you! I’ve recently been laying low on blogging ’cause on top of having PMS and flu, I’m also starting to feel lazy. I think it’s because of the heat too, and ’cause of how fast-paced my life has been lately. I’m definitely with you on just taking it slow. Don’t force yourself ’cause you’ll just be too hard on yourself.

Anyway, love the nails! πŸ˜€ I don’t have the guts yet (or maybe the personality?) to wear glittery nails, but I know I’d get there soon.. πŸ˜€

  3. I think we’re in the same slump re blogging. Reading Stieg Larsson has made me neglect the blog a bit, plus I think I’m just tired all the time. But like you, i’m not giving up on this especially since I’d like to believe the best is yet to come. hahaha!

  4. I always love to see glitters to girls. I think it is so cool and makes them sexy or maybe it just pops into my mind how hot J-lo is. hehe πŸ˜‰

  5. I didn’t like this in the bottle and it does look messy up-close. I saw in a magazine that you can do sort of gradation glitter. Have a silver/gold base then layer with fine glitters. At the tip, you can use the bigger sparkles!

although I’m able to read your posts since it gets sent to my email. πŸ˜€
So! The glittery polish is cute! Although, I barely use nail polish because of work, and my nails are super short. 😦

  7. I would agree with Patsy. haha. That will be a great idea. πŸ˜€ I think you can do a transitional color as well, like apply one color at the tip of your nail then make a fading effect then soon its dry add a second coating with sparkles. πŸ˜€ blue and silver would do i think
