In a moment of impulse, my friend Kim bought this lipstick because she was quite drawn to the thought of sporting bright red lips. Upon trial, however, she realized that the color wasn’t for her. One, it was too bold. Two, she’s more of the natural, nude lipstick kind of girl.
Knowing how much I love Revlon lipsticks, she passed this tube on to me. Revlon is definitely my go – to brand when it comes to lip products because I think the price point is very fair especially considering the quality of their stuff. I was very happy to be the recipient of this gift! 😀
Scroll down and tell me, doesn’t that tube look absolutely delicious?
From Revlon’s Colorburst Lipstick line, it promises to give you an “instant burst of rich color with a featherlight feel.” Definitely agree on the instant burst of color as it’s very pigmented. One swipe is all you need to get the color on the stick. It also glides on very easily (I guess this is what they described as “featherlight”) and though it has a lustrous, moisturizing texture, it doesn’t feel like you’ve got tons of products on. Not very keen on lipsticks being too creamy. 🙂
Now, why do you need another red lipstick? Well, there are many shades of red. I, for one have another matte Revlon lipstick called Really Red. While that one has a cool undertone to it which is more subdued, True Red (090) is a warm shade that’s brighter and more eye-catching. I would say that this is what we’d normally term as cherry red.
For your better appreciation, I also took photos of myself wearing this shade on my lips. Both were taken under fluorescent light but the color’s more or less the same even in daylight as you can see in the swatch above.
If you think the bright color is too scary, then you better get used to it. Red lips are classic and very powerful. It can up the sophistication of any look. Just find a shade that’s right for your skin tone and wear it with confidence. 🙂
So, what do you guys think? Do you like sporting red lips too? 🙂
