Love – Hate Relationship with Sizzling Pepper Steak and Happy Lemon

{EAV:bd19d03664acbdcb}

It’s been ages since I last made a food-related post. Truth be told, I haven’t been eating out lately because I’ve been on a tight budget 😦 Too much shopping, really. Le sigh.

Anyway, last week, when I finally went somewhere to eat, my work mates and I decided to go to Sizzling Pepper Steak. Ok, as the title says, I have a love – hate relationship with this restaurant. Every time I go here, I have this hope that I’ll finally like their food because in theory, everything sounds and looks good. However, I find the actuality a bit disappointing.

For example, I really love their creamy corn soup. It may use a bit more pepper and salt but that’s just me. I like things a bit too flavorful than normal. πŸ™‚

And, most of the time, I usually get one of their Hamburg Steaks and enjoy them as well. I like that the steak is juicy and chunky and that you can have unlimited sauce. However, the vegetables that go with these are usually sad. You gotta eat them first or else, if you leave them til after everything sizzles, they’ll be charred and horrible.

However, I wanted to try something new so I got the Pork BBQ Pepper Rice because it had egg and looked good in the photo. To my disappointment, I didn’t like it at all. The sauce that went with it and the meat itself was too sweet for my liking. Barbecue, in my opinion, should be savory, not sweet. 😦 The egg didn’t do much for the dish either because it was tasteless too. 😦

I got to try my friend’s Beef Pepper Rice, though, and liked it so much. Not sweet but savory, thank heavens! I should have gotten this instead. It was exactly my sort of dish. Needless to say, it was one of the restaurant’s most popular dishes. Next time, I’ll know what to get.

For dessert, we went over to Happy Lemon, Mega Mall. Surprisingly, the lines were short when we got there so we were all pleased. I confess that I’ve only been to Happy Lemon twice before just to see what the hype was all about. Then, I got the Green Tea with Rock Salt and Cheese and didn’t like it because I found the cheese too rich. I enjoyed Lemon with Nata de Coco more so that was my basis for choosing this time around.

I ended up getting the Lemon Yakult Mousse Spin. What can I say? It tastes exactly like Yakult with a hint of lemon and a bit of mousse. Did it blow my mind away? No. Was it good? Hmm.. good enough! Will I buy that again? Maybe.

I guess I’m just not a huge milk tea / coffee / specialty drinks / whatever you call places like Happy Lemon fan. I will try more things from their menu though just so I can make a better judgment. πŸ™‚

By the way, I’ll be going to Clark for the Hot Air Balloon Fiesta on Thursday. I can’t wait to take pretty photos of hot air balloons and show you guys! πŸ˜€

Enjoy the rest of the week!!!

  1. I share the same thoughts with Happy Lemon. My friends and I have this consensus that the topping (rock salt and cheese) is good, but when you reach the actual base liquid, it’s…nothing spectacular. Gong Cha pa rin! hahaha Have fun on your Clark escapade! πŸ˜€

you should try more kinds of tea kasi tea is really, really good. pero i guess it’s easier to appreciate tea if it’s cold especially if di ka talaga mahilig sa tea. pero please drink more tea and become part of the cult. hahaha. :))

  11. Yeah. Well, I recently ate here at Sizzlin’ Pepper Steak Trinoma Branch… I had supper.

Guess what? Their Beef Pepper Rice gave me horrible food poisoning. It was a freaking nightmare that I wanted to wake up from. I guess it was the meat. They served me poor quality meat.

I was rushed to the Emergency Room right after I went home from Sizzlin’ Pepper Steak in Trinoma. I was vomiting like crazy. I vomited 22 times before being rushed to the Emergency Room. I felt like my insides were being scraped and poked and bruised and my throat was in pain from all the uncontrollable vomiting. It was THE worst and most painful food experience of my life.

I advise all of you to watch what you eat in this restaurant or to just not eat there at all. I don’t want anyone else to endure what I went through with this restaurant.

It was a waste of money. Plus, I still had to spend additional cash for my trip to the ER.

I also had to stand the embarrassment of uncontrollably vomiting numerous times on the Emergency Room, the side of the hospital, the street (with people looking at me with total disgust), and the cab.
