January 2012 Top 5 Beauty Favorites

January 2012 is over and done with and oh what a month it has been! Though it started out slow, it quickly gained momentum and before I knew it, work was piling up and I spent most of my hours toiling like an ant. Undoubtedly, February is going to be busy too but hey, at least I’ve got work. πŸ™‚

Right, now moving on, I’m going to start doing the monthly beauty favorites, wherein I’ll list down all the products I’ve been using and loving for the month that was. Some of the items have been reviewed before while the others are new. Are you guys ready?

1. Balm Shelter Tinted Moisturizer from The Balm

One of my absolute favorites this month is The Balm’s Balm Shelter Tinted Moisturizer. Because it’s been really hot, I’ve decided to set aside my everyday foundation for this tinted moisturizer which is lighter in formula. That way, I avoid feeling like a well-battered tempura all day long.

Also helps that this already has an SPF of 15 to keep me protected from the sun and the slight tint provides enough coverage for my red patches. Meanwhile, since it’s also a moisturizer, it nourishes my dry skin.

2. Human Heart Nature Velvet Passion Eyeshadow Palette in Sweet InnocenceΒ

I’ve used this Sweet Innocence eye shadow palette almost everyday this month! This has been perfect for the office. Though the colors are very sheer, they give just the right oomph to transform the eyes and make them look more alive.

No regrets for buying this one at all. I’m having so much fun playing with it and testing different color combinations and techniques. Will post some Valentine’s Day looks using this soon.

3. Ever Bilena Cheek Tint

I’ve had this product for ages! It took a backseat for a few months and was slowly gathering dust in my makeup cabinet. This month, though, I’ve rediscovered why I loved it in the first place. This is such a quick and easy way to add natural flush to the cheeks without the use of brushes. I always have it in my bag because it’s so convenient to use on the go, especially when I’m rushing to work in the morning.

It’s also very affordable so you guys should definitely try this!

4. Revlon Lustrous Lipstick in Siren

In case you didn’t know, the color of the year for 2012 is Tangerine Tango. Since I’ve already incorporated this bright orange color into my wardrobe, I decided to start the year right by sporting tangerine lips as well.

I actually got this lipstick last year and I really love how bold and bright it is. It can glam up a look in an instant and it’s more friendly for day use than a red lipstick.

5. Nichido Elise False Eyelashes in Natural

Last but not the least, I’m including these false eyelashes from Nichido’s Elise line. I think that these would be a great addition to a Valentine’s Day look as the lashes look very natural indeed when worn. I’ll make a proper review of these in the coming weeks and also show you how to incorporate them in a makeup look that’s perfect for Valentine’s Day. Hope you guys can watch out for that. πŸ™‚

I hope you guys enjoyed that! I shall be doing another one next month. πŸ™‚

Let me know if what your favorite products for this month are in the comments section. I might give your favorites a try as well. πŸ™‚

  1. The Human Heart Nature eyeshadow palette reminds me of Maybelline’s eyeshadow quad! πŸ˜€ Btw, I want to try the Balm Shelter Tinted Moisturizer. Do you think it’d be okay for oily skin?

As for my favorites (not just for January, but my all-time faves).. I still use my Revlon ColorStay foundie. It’s a staple! haha.. I also enjoy my ELF Contouring Blush & Bronzing Powder. I hit pan na on the blush! And a new-found goodie is the Carmex lip balm.. πŸ™‚

    1. Yes, the colors are similar to Maybelline’s eyeshadow quad! πŸ™‚ Difference would this is more velvety in terms of finish πŸ™‚

The moisturizer might not be too good on oily skin as it might add to the oilyness 😦 Baka you can get a tester so you can try it out for a few days? It’s available in Beauty Bar.

I’ve heard so many raves about Revlon ColorStay. I should definitely try that one na. I’ve been looking for a good bronzer so I will definitely check ELF.

  2. I should try Ever Bilena cheek tint. I am currently using the lip and cheek tint and I love it! I make 3 layers on the lips and it looks awesome. Just a tip, Apply, blot using tissue, apply, blot, apply and blot again slightly. :)) Great post. Excited for February faves!

  5. Lagi kong nakikita tong Ever Bilena Cheek Tint if pumupunta ako sa Watson’s pero I’m so scared to try it. Kasi feeling ko hindi bagay sa akin. Hmmm.

Btw, what shade of lipstick do you use for everyday pala? πŸ™‚ Is it the Siren or something else? :>

    1. I think it will look great on your skin because it’s red rather than pink πŸ™‚ Warm yung tone ng red niya so i think it will match your warm skin tone πŸ™‚

For every day, I alternate among Siren, Revlon’s Mauve It over, Avon’s Amber Glow. But the line up changes every month. Depends on what I’m loving at that moment πŸ™‚
