It’s that time of the year again when it’s only spring yet the runways of Paris and Milan are all abuzz with talks of the latest Fall 2012 menswear collections. For me, it’s the perfect opportunity to ogle at the perfectly formed male creatures of this world. And, in between trying to not to leave my mouth agape and remembering to wipe my drool, I managed to do some trend spotting. Multitasking at its finest, don’t you agree?
So, what’s on the runways? Here are some of my observations:
1. Romantic Patterns and Textures + Mystical References
This season, romantic patterns and references to historical fashion was seen all over the runway particularly in Gucci and Dolce & Gabanna. In Gucci, for example, the colors palette took inspiration from the rich tones found in paisley, with beautiful flower patterns that are very much masculine despite being well… flowers.
2. Odes to the Military
Military-inspired clothes are again all the rage for Fall 2012. I’ve seen several shows that can attest to this. Here are just some:
3. Leather, Leather, and More Leather!
Although there are plenty of other trends to be spotted on the runways, none is as prevalent as the use of leather. Leather seems to be the fabric of the season! Not very applicable in a tropical country like the Philippines but our men can try faux letter perhaps? Anyway, here are just some of the looks from different designers that sported leather.
And the list goes on…
Don’t think I like all these leather so much. Sure, leather jackets on men are sexy but colored leather trousers? Or even just black leather trousers? Nah… not on my man! What do you guys and girls think?
That’s about it for now. I might do other posts covering more trends but typically, I started with the more bizarre ones. Fear not, boys. Not all the trends on the runway are as out there as the ones above. For one, the classically cut suit is also very in for Fall 2012 (not that it was ever out of trend).
Stay tuned for more updates! 😀
P.S. Sorry if ever there are some nonsensical things said on this post or lapses in grammar. It’s almost 5AM (though this is scheduled to post at 10AM) and I’m too sleepy to proofread. Good night, world!
