Good Morning! Have You Had Your Agahan (Breakfast)?

Rise and shine! Wake up and feel the day! It’s another Monday and I’m sure most of you are still hung over from the weekend and want nothing else but to spend a little more time in bed. But alas, for some of us, duty calls.ย Before we go anywhere, though, why not have some breakfast? As the popular saying goes, breakfast is the most important meal of the day.

Admittedly, I usually skip breakfast. I’d rather sacrifice food for a few more minutes of precious sleep. Recently, though, I’ve had a new-found appreciation for breakfast food. I realized that there’s no rule that says breakfast can only be had in the morning. In fact, with restaurants like AGAHAN, breakfast can be had all day long.

Stepping into this one-month old restaurant on a late Sunday afternoon, my friend Marko and I were greeted by a chorus of “Good morning!” And, despite the actual time of the day, why can’t it be morning indeed? The warmth of the reception we were given plus the equally sunny and bright decor made us believe that the day was only just beginning and that a world of great things awaited us.

While waiting for our meal, we were accompanied by restaurant owner, Adee Caluag, who regaled us with the story of how the restaurant came to be:

Accordingly, she is a great lover of breakfast food. However, she never woke up early enough to catch the breakfast menus at restaurants. Thus, she often found herself cooking bacon in the middle of the night and in the process, the thought came to her that perhaps there are also other people who love breakfast food but not necessarily only in morning. Hence, AGAHAN, a restaurant that serves breakfast all day long, was born.

Agahan’s menu is a mix of several breakfast favorites including Ligaya’s Tapa, Corned Beef Rice, Eggs and Pancakes, and of course, Bacon! For our meal, Marko go the best selling Ligaya’s tapa while I got the Bacon Breakfast Set.

I filched a few pieces from Marko’s plate and I can confidently say that the tapa’s good. The more noteworthy element of the meal though was the special vinegar from Laguna. Adee says people love the vinegar so much that they often finish all the contents of a container in one sitting. After trying it myself, I can definitely agree!

(Note: The succeeding photos were taken using my phone since Ms. Stupid forgot to check her camera’s battery. As a result, it died on her.)

My Bacon Meal Set was great too! How can I say anything bad about bacon? Plus, the pancakes with butter and maple syrup were not bad either. :>

For our dessert, we were served this homemade Chocolate Chip Banana Cake. Adee’s sister makes them and biting into a piece reminds me so much of my childhood. My mom used to make tons of banana cake too for our snack at school. ๐Ÿ™‚

Oh, before I forget, Agahan makes every effort to make their meals healthier so they use Canola oil instead of regular vegetable oil to fry their food. Moreover, they also serve wheat and whole grain bread instead of the regular white bread.

So, has this post made you ready for breakfast? If you guys would like to check out this new restaurant, why not drop by and make your tummies happy?

Agahan is located at 1012 Metropolitan Avenue, Makati City. It’s near the end of Ayala Avenue. For those near the area, they also deliver. Just give them a call at 822-5057.

Do drop by often before December 29 because if you do so, you will get your sixth meal for FREE! ๐Ÿ™‚

Hope this post gave you all a reason to be happy this Monday morning! Have a great week ahead! ๐Ÿ™‚
