Sexy Feline Eyes with Maybelline’s Volum’ Express Hypercurl Cat Eyes Mascara

This is another product that I have been using for ages (five years to be exact!). Say hello to Maybelline’s Volum’ Express Hypercurl Cat Eyes Mascarra in Feline Black! πŸ™‚

Because I have thin and sparse lashes, making them visible to the naked eye is almost an impossible task without the help of mascara. Hence why mascara is one of the absolute must-haves in my makeup kit.

This particular product is a lifesaver because just a few runs through my lashes makes such a difference to my appearance. It instantly thickens my sparse lashes and in the process, not only adds volume to it but also makes it appear longer.

I remember a day when I forgot to put some onΒ and a work mate of mine asked if I cut my lashes. When I asked her why she thought so, she commented that my lashes appeared shorter than they looked the day before. “No mascara,” I told her whilst making a mental note never to leave home without it on again.

An important consideration while choosing a mascara is the shape of the wand. Particular shapes, I think, fit particular lashes better than others. For me, I like small wands like this one because it allows me to get to the roots of my lashes without making a mess of it. Basing on my experience, bigger wands are more difficult to use with short and thin lashes like mine as there’s not enough hair between the wand and my lids to serve as a buffer. More often than not, I end up getting product on my lash line, which is very annoying.

Moreover, I like the ridges at the end of this one because these act as a comb that separates my lashes while I apply the product. These minimize clumping, which some people hate. I like a bit of clumping myself.

Here are some photos showing me using the mascara. In the second one, I intentionally clumped up the lashes because I was going for the spidery look.

One thing to take note about this product is that it’s waterproof. I have tried bathing in a pool with it on and it does stay in place although a few “tubes” (cylindrical black stuff that encased the lashes) might rub off once in a while. It doesn’t make a mess, though, which is good. At the end of a long day, however, the product transfers to the bottom of the eye especially when that part gets oily so beware of that happening.

Nevertheless, in spite of its flaws, this still remains as one of my most favorite mascaras. You girls better give it a try so you can let me know what you think. πŸ™‚

  1. This is the same as the Hello Kitty mascara from Maybelline. πŸ™‚ The difference is only the packaging, apparently. XD I have the same mascara because my eyelashes are short!

Btw, how would you know if you’ve removed all the mascara at the end of the day? Sometimes I get paranoid about it. Like I wonder if some mascara is stuck or something.

      1. Which Magnum mascara? The one that supposedly like film and will be removed easily with water? I will try that after I run out of the cat eyes mascara πŸ™‚
